Free Vector Skulls Pack

In the Reggae Vector post I did, I got a comment from dexcel00 asking me if I could  please create for him some skull graphics, so I did. I tried to cover several styles of skulls, so more people could find these vectors useful. Most of them where done using the pen tool to trace skulls, but there are some that where autotraced and then coloured using Live Paint in Illustrator. I hope you guys like them, and keep the requests coming in the comments, and I'll do my best to make them.

Skull design comes from the skull and bones image which was first used by the Templar Knights, pirates started using the flag in their ship to trick others that they where friendly, that's why so many people associate the skull and bones symbol with them. The symbol has been used for along time to mark the entrance of cementaries in Spain and it also forms a big part of the festival of the dead in Mexico.

I think that because this symbol has been used for such a long time and has been associated with so many cultures and with death, it has become visually, a very powerful symbol. Although I think it has been overused in graphic design lately, I still like when it's properly used.

    Nicholas:

I love your vector skulls. My friend and I are starting a t-shirt company and I was wondering if I cam ok to use these skulls in a shirt design? Please let me know! Thanks again!

    Max

  • Nicolas on Fri, 08/21/2009 - 10:33

Yeah, its ok to use it for any purpose really, all my vectors are released under the GPL license, so you can do with them pretty much whatever you want. What I do ask is that if you use my vectors for something (specially a t-shirt or any type of product), is to please send me a picture of the actual t-shirt or an image of the artwork, I would love to have a look and post it on the site.

    Cheers!

They are free because I am a big believer in open source and I contribute to an open source project, Drupal. I'm a big fan of the GPL license, and I don't see copyright as most people see it. I think its better when you release the source of your work and let people play around with it, and do there own stuff. Of course I wouldn't release the source of an interface or logo I designed for a client, but I will be posting some Photoshop interface mockups I have made playing around soon, keep tuned to mulpo.com!

In the book and the lectures Lewis argues that significant changes are required to meet the Millennium Development Goals in Africa by their mcse 2008 2015 deadline. Lewis explains the historical context of Africa since the 1980s, citing a succession of disastrous economic policies by international financial institutions that contributed to, rather than reduced, poverty. He connects the structural adjustment loans, with conditions of limited public spending on health and education infrastructure, to the uncontrolled spread of AIDS and subsequent food shortages as the disease infected much of the working-age population. Lewis addresses discrimination against women and primary education for children. mcts testking To help alleviate problems, he ends with potential solutions which mainly require increased funding by G8 countries to levels beyond what they promise.

Book reviewers found the criticisms constructive and the writing sincere. His style focuses less on numbers and statistics, and more on connecting decisions by UN officials and western diplomats to consequences on the ground in Africa. His eyewitness accounts are said to be candid and emotional. pmp dumps The book spent seven weeks at #1 on The Globe and Mail's Nonfiction Bestseller List. A second edition was released in June 2006. The Canadian Booksellers Association awarded its Libris Award for non-fiction book of the java certification dumps year to Race Against Time and its Author of the Year Award to Lewis in 2006.
